Employers’ voices have been heard – the SHRM appointed Policy Development Process (PDP) Council recommended adoption of Employ Media’s proposal for non-company names in the dot jobs (.jobs) universe.
After the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) survey returned positive results, SHRM posted a public notice of the Council’s recommendation and SHRM’s Executive Committee approval.
The SHRM notice says, “In allowing the Council-approved proposed amendment to be implemented, the SHRM Executive Committee concurred with the determination of the Council, supported by the survey research and public comment, that the proposed amendment would serve the needs of the international human resource management community.”
What does this mean? Employers are one step closer to the launch of .jobs. The final step in the process is ICANN approval of Employ Media’s proposed changes, which will likely include a 30 to 45 day public comment period consistent with ICANN general procedures and practices.
Employers will be informed via this blog and social media outlets when the open comment period has been scheduled. Voice your support once again for .jobs and its impact on the job seeker and HR community.
Thank you for being an advocate for .jobs!
